Reproduction and diet of the buttonfish, Pterodoras granulosus (Siluriformes, Doradidae): an invasive species in the upper Teles Pires River

The botoado or buttonfish, popularly known by fishermen in the region, is an invasive species that arrived through the removal of natural barriers, such as waterfalls, due to the construction of hydroelectric plants along the Tele Pires River. These invasive species, because they are not part of this location, have great power to alter the structure of aquatic ecosystems. This is because they are not part of the food chain and, without their natural predators, they establish themselves quickly and in high densities. This project aims to investigate the diet and reproductive biology and adopt management measures for this invasive fish.
