The fish collection of the UFMT campus Sinop was created in 2008 and was located in the building of the Biological Collection of Southern Amazonia (ABAM). Currently, the Ichthyology Collection has been transferred to the LIT, with Dr. Lucélia Nobre Carvalho as the curator, who has the constant support of systems of different specialties and different Brazilian institutions (eg INPA, UFMS, MZUSP, UFRGS, UEM, UFPA ). The visits have allowed the taxonomic revision of several families of fish, and refined the identification of valid morphotypes.
